Ya but that's the same in every other state but they give you the pool points which helps immensely plan your hunts. In this high tech age it's basically nothing for IT to post those.

No that 25% doesn't matter. It's how many applied with 3 points. If only 423 applied with 3 points then the odds are 100%. I guess there's no way to know. I wonder why Iowa doesn't break that down like every other state does.

I thought I saw a post on this not long ago, but an archive search pulled up nothing recent. I applied for a NR zone 5 archery tag with 3 points and trying to figure my odds. I thought I read someone claimed ~ 85% in 2015 or 2016. Anyone know? Put in a lot of time scouting public this March...

Anyone else attend the P&Y Convention in St. Louis last weekend? I did all four days and helped crate and load the taxidermy mounts in trucks to return to hunters. I packed up a bear skull belonging to Lee Lakosky. Also loaded the new world record typical elk taken in Montana.

I only scouted 5 properties but I'd suggest northeast at the public nearby the town of Unionville.

That was years ago but I expect nothing has changed. Except that was before the corrupt LO legislator pushed through his bill to liberalize NR tags essentially ending limited NR qoutas, and retired to his outfitting business. That last year in Kansas I aerial scouted over 200 WIHA properties...

Beware of the Kansas WIHA properties. When I hunted there the guide book was just a roadmap for outfitters to locate available properties for leasing. All the good ones were one and done and out of the WIHA system the next year, generally leaving just bird hunting ground.

Totally irrelevant. I only mentioned KY elk as an example of the type places HF is sending their thousands of subscribers, points or not. Statistically, if you are a NR trophy hunter, KY and many other places they send people to just don't make sense. They are literally not worth the time doing...

I normally spend time scouting new spots in February, but this year I was busy with my marriage stuff. But I'd still like to get out and check out some more properties in zone 5. Curious if April 7-10 is too late and if it might be too greened up. If I could wait until then I could combine it...
