I was told by a PF guy that Osenbaugh's I think they are in Lucas had it for $.99 a pound. They ran the special for a month. Missed out on that one too!
It creates great bedding cover. I've been doing a little bit over the last week and have scared up two turkeys that were less than ten foot away from me bedded down in some hinge cuts that I did in prior years. Good stuff Critter!
Good luck on the purchase!
Usually the rent is an annual payment. I would check into enrolling it in crp. We just got a "quote" for $180/acre on fifteen acres that we will be putting in later this year. The program we are enrolling in is a CP38. Talk you your Accessor for the Forest Reserve...
I like the change, it's alot faster now. The only thing I can't get is the new posts keep popping up on the top of the page instead of oldest to newest it's newest to oldest. Anyone know how to fix it? I've gone up to the thread tab but can't find the oldest to newest option.
Edit: I found...

Anyone that wants to duck hunt it can.....unless it's during deer season
It is a WRP project. I'm not sure if they all work this way but you receive a one time payment, basically an easement payment and then a 100% cost share on the wetland restoration. The easement is for the NRCS, giving them permission to walk the property and check the water control structure...
I have several of the Moultrie game spy cameras and like them. I live 15 miles from both of my places so like you, I'm not there all the time and I don't want a $3-400 cuddeback gone when I go to check it.
I think you hit the nail on the head as far as the habitat goes. Look how many fence rows have been cleared in the last 5 years. The number of CRP acres is also a good point. I think the last two winters have been the reason for the sudden and most noticeable decline. They sure are a fun...
Last fall we had a 25 acre part of our ground redone in wetlands. It is along a river bottom and is flooded at least once a year. It turned out great and the critters are loving it. Yesterday I ran across deer, turkey, geese and ducks. Just thought I would share some pics.
This is in the...
Fencing would definately be a must. I planted some apple trees at the other place and took old fencing and put it around them double high. No deer damage at all. Did have a beaver go through the fencing and chew one off but of course couldn't get the tree through the fencing I will have the...
Anyone ever cleared out an acre or so of timber and planted a small apple orchard? I have 32 acres of timber part of which many years ago use to be pasture/timber. There is a natural bedding area on the south and north east side of the timber. I was thinking of clearing an acre or so in the...
We burnt some of ours off this weekend because we are putting all of the hay ground back in CRP. We burnt the food plots and what little NWSG we did have. It's all going in beans this spring and CP-38 after that. Boy that switch grass really goes.
