I get one doe tag a year. That is if I remember to buy it before noon on the first day available, otherwise, they will be sold out. For the one farm I use it each year, it is all about population control. Any doe with fawns, preferably twins, gets a green light.
I think the Big Buck Brassica Mix and their Big Buck Annual Mix are both decent mixes. Whether the deer are foraging or chomping on the turnips in the ground, they seem to like both options. There are other options out there but I like that these come from Iowa.
I'm not a fan of the idea for there to be more forums. There just isn't enough traffic for it. First and foremost this is a whitetail hunting site. Keep it that way. Look at how few hits some of the existing forums get already. Until the site gets more active members, don't add more forums.
Even though my muzzleloader is a single shot and I believe all of us should approach our shot opportunities as if we only get one, I do not get this one, and I wonder how they plan to enforce it?
I don't mind that 100% of our license fees go toward the Fish and Wildlife Trust Fund. My comment is in regards to who all benefits from that fund, what else helps to fund it? I hate "use" fees but if that is what it is going to be, all users can contribute to it. Heck, if the Farm Bureau wants...
Misinformation is being shared. Don't get me wrong, I would support an increase of license fees, but the IBA or anyone else saying we haven't had an increase in license fees since 1991 (when all licenses are included) simply is not factual. Also, while it is money to support what we love to do...
I do struggle with this piece. I thought they changed it to where a person with carry permit could carry what they wanted and how they wanted. Perhaps that is elsewhere in our laws and trumps this little blurb.
The rest of it, I support. Unless I am reading it wrong, it is not allowing more...
Yep. From the CDC... "As of January 2018, there were 186 counties in 22 states with reported CWD in free-ranging cervids."
Contained? How well has that worked in any other area of the country? I do think we can slow the spread, but I do not think we will contain or stop the spread. It has...
I am in favor. There are good muzzleloaders out there that are less than the .44 caliber minimum required today that can still put out good deer killing loads. Yes, there are smokeless options too, but they are not high power guns any more than guns that are already legal take in Iowa. I do not...
The "reason for the season" is the very reason why some people tell the DNR "no" when asked to sample their deer.
We know it is here, so, what is the DNR's plan, other than sampling more to further confirm it is here?
This piece of your concern is easy to comment towards. Residents over the age of 64 do not need to purchase a habitat stamp, nor do residents under the age of 16. Not just towards this season or game animal, towards all of them. In addition to that, under 16 do not need a hunting license and...
Try putting the shoe on the other foot (one that you cannot use) and try to answer this question. Can you imagine being unable to hunt the rut? This one is not about protecting the herd, it is about hunters protecting hunters and supporting giving the options that give them opportunities do do...
This x 2. As a landowner it is sickening to think a sign needs posted or a post painted to keep trespassers out. If you don’t have permission, keep out or risk the consequence of being fined (and ridiculed).
