What is a permanently baited area? What about a temporarily baited area?!
I agree, let's cut this one off in it's infancy. No one needs to be feeding during season. I'm afraid if "defensive baiting" catches on, it could escalate to the point where everyone needs to do it on order to have...
What about banning feeding in season? That has been brought up several times in this thread and on others, but I don't think you've commented on it. Is there a reason we can't get this done? Seems like a no brainer to me.
I'm guessing farm bureau would throw a massive stink if we tried to take away landowners tags from farmers. I think it'd be an easier sell if they could still get that tag but were limited to 2 bucks a year just like all hunters. I'm for that option btw.
Skip has gone to painstaking lengths to...
The future of farming could look a bit different. Here's a few things rfk recently said:
We’re going to give farmers an off-ramp from the current system that destroys their health, wrecks the soil, makes Americans sick, and destroys family farms.”
1.“We’re going to REWRITE the regulations to...
I'm afraid any change you try to make will come up against resistance. Everyone's happy to see rule changes for others but once it affects them........ suddenly they are a victim.
For what is worth, I'm willing to give up:
*my floating LO tag
*my cell cams in season.
*my scope on my muzzle...
What about killing the floating LO tag instead? That affects all landowners equally and it's a huge advantage. I loved having it this year but dang, that's a game changer. It's a change that wasn't necessary and will definitely kill more bucks.
I can see South Dakota from my yard. There are tax benefits to moving over that border+ it's a great state overall. Deer hunting keeps me on this side of the Sioux river.
What if I high fence a 20 acre property but leave 1-20' opening. I then tie up a dog by that opening. Legally, those may be free range deer but morally I'm a piece of crap and those deer are trapped.
You could literally spend days coming up with legal things that are only done by honor less...
I agree with most of what you said but I definitely do not reserve judgement on an activity just because it's legal. There are all kinds of legal things a person can do that would still make them a total scumbag of they did it.
He's fenced at least one neighbor out. I heard him talk about it on a podcast once, I think the guy was letting multiple people hunt on a small property so Don put up a high fence to block them off.
I'd have that exposed hydraulic destroyed on day one.
You want something you can dig around and loosen up roots with when a stubborn tree won't come up. Get one that's designed for that. I really like my tree gator.
The county I live in was pummeled by ehd this year. I found 4 more a couple weeks ago so I went online to report. I decided to check what our county total was and it turns out I'm the only one in the whole county who reported any all year!
I don't disagree at all, increasing numbers will help. We are doing our part by laying off does completely. EHD has been devastating.
I still don't think that simply getting the numbers back will bring things back to what once was. Way too many "advancements" have been made in that time. 20...
I'm not convinced that a higher population will magically bring us back to the good old days everyone remembers. There are plenty of states with high populations. I think it's more complicated than that. The hunter has become far more efficient at targeting bigger bucks and there are multiple...
Brassicas have never been a late season draw for me. I always hear about deer hammering the bulbs in cold weather but I've not experienced it. They love the tops in early season though.
The bulbs always seem too rotten to be palatable by the time late season rolls around. .
if high fencing properties starts becoming the norm in the midwest, I'm out. I won't be part of that clown show. Alaska, here I come, lol.
This isn't directed at the op, I'm talking guys putting up fences to prevent deer from leaving. .
