    Good Decoy?

Which would be more important, the hen decoy or a good jake. If you had to choose which would you spend more on? I am thinking about a dave smith jake and just using my primos hens. Thoughts?

    Tenzing vs Badlands

The 2200 is the one I was looking at. Not quite that cheap though. The noise was my biggest concern. I generally carry way too much stuff in the field that I never use but i figure better to have it and not need it instead of needing it and not having it. Thanks for the feedback.

    Tenzing vs Badlands

Not really in the market for a new pack but saw a tenzing pack on sale. I currently have a badlands day pack which is great but the interior (nylon?) is really noisy when it gets cold out. I am wondering if the tenzing would have the same problem. Also general feedback on which pack people...

    Iowa Bowhunters Association

I am a member of the IBA but have never had time to attend events. It is something i would like to do in the future but I generally save up my days away from the family for treestand time. I will however continue to be a member of the IBA because it is important that they continue to lobby for...

    Field pods -- recoil

I have a caldwell fieldpod and love it. It is a little bit of a burden to carry in but find i am a much better shooter with it. As far as recoil, i don't notice it much with my muzzleloader, but it does keep me rock solid on target. I loaned it too my neighbor who took his grand kids shooting...

    Ethics:

My biggest frustration is the amount of trespassing that goes on. Too many times guys will push entire sections even though they only have permission on 40 acres. I know not every group does this but the area i hunt it seems to be the norm. I also disagree with the law that says you can tag...

    Cull Buck, thoughts?

no, first time i have ever seen him. I assumed he was older but no idea how old. Don't think i have ever seen an uglier rack!

    Cull Buck, thoughts?

Just for discussion, what do you guys think of this buck? Genetic trait or injury? Will he be this funky the next year?

    buckeyes

I assumed that was probably the case since i hadn't heard of many people planting them. Just curious. Thanks guys.

    buckeyes

Do deer eat buckeyes? I have a tree that is dropping a ton of them. I picked up a bunch and am thinking about planting them, just curious if deer or turkeys would eat them. I would only really want to go to the work and expense if it is something to benefit deer herd rather than just feed the...

    food plot question

This is the first year i am giving a real attempt at establishing a food plot. I am planning to plant a brassicas mix and have already sprayed the weeds with roundup. I am planning to burn off the weeds sometime this week. My question is can I burn, then till up and plant all in the same day...

slowest 2nd season ive ever had!!

Hunting in southern warren county, it was tough. Every tom that I saw had a min of 5 hens with him and they wouldn't respond to anything and totally ignored my jake decoy. I guess nothing beats the real thing. Overall pretty frustrating weekend, didn't see near as many birds as I usually do...

    Huntmore 360 Chair

I don't own one of those chairs. Sat in one once at the deer classic and it seemed pretty comfortable. I recently saw somewhere that millennium is coming out with a chair for blinds. That may be something to consider as well.

Looking for some suggestions for a gun safe

I bought a cannon safe from tractor supply on black friday this year. I thought their prices were pretty reasonable even before the sale. $700 or so is what i think the safe cost before the sale.

Biggest Learning Lessons of the Season?

I had a similar experience, loads of deer the first week or two of the season and then a steep drop off. At he time i thought it was due to the harvest of crops changing their patterns, but looking back they just dispersed to other areas dropping the numbers where i hunt drastically. This led...

    Thermacell heated insoles

No, not worried about my feet getting cold on the walk there, just didn't know if it drastically changed the fit of the boot.

    Thermacell heated insoles

Has anyone tried these? How well do they work? Are they comfortable to walk in? I have some stands that i am walking over a mile to get to. Does the battery life last? Thinking about buying some of these, but for the price i want them to work really well and last. Thanks.

    are you kidding me?

The way it is written a person will still have to take hunter safety, the change is that if they are over 18 they can take the course 100% online. Also allows active military to hunt without hunter safety.

    Warren County 1st season

I have noticed a decline in the number of mature deer this year in warren county. I would take it easy on the does. Most of the does that i have seen this year have been really young. That being said I really think that it hit pockets. It can really differ from one farm to the next. Really...

Alternative to Rage Broadheads while keeping Rage benefits???

I have used the NAP hellrazors for the last two years. All three deer that i have shot died within 30-40 yards, with decent bloodtrails. In my limited experience they have great penetration and re-sharpen pretty easily.
