Usually it means removing a bully buck that has less than optimal antler growth so as to make room for different, younger deer that may or may not become something great. Most guys understand you're not actually culling to improve a wild herd's genetics.

Straight up ehd this year for us in my tiny part of Illinois. Farm chemicals have been around forever throughout all the greatest boom years of the whitetail. We have coyotes, cwd, snipers, modern technologies in hunting...and yet we still had the worst crop damage from deer in the past dozen...

IMO the fact that he's "almost" a 5.5 helps somewhat. If he was a 3.5 scoring the same that makes it worse. A 2.5 even worse. Then you really would feel awful shooting a 2.5 scoring 175. Just how I see it. I bet a lot of the guys saying to pass him up already have a 175" on the wall. I...
