2021 bill

I can confirm that this bill is comming from the realtors lobby.

And I don't like it one bit.
I'm not anti-nonresident In fact there are 3 non residents that hunt our farm when they draw a tag, but I'm tired of seeing residents pushed out of areas that need the doe herd thinned.

I have been told that about 35 total spring turkey NR applications didn't draw tags. 35

If you look under who lobbied for SF 2021, you'll find this. The good ol' Farm Bureau. Call and write those senators! Just this weekend I was trying to get a slickhead on some public ground by a non-res landownders land. The public hunting signs were down and no trespassing signs were up. You can still see the hole where the signpost used to be. Things are getting crazier in our state all the time.

Good post teacher.
We all like to surf IW and other hunting sites, but if you go to www.legis.state.ia.us and surf for awhile the information is amazing. I think it's much more important to know who is backing a bill than who sponsored it. Most legislation is self serving and 2021 is no different.

The Realtors Association is involved, watch out now??!! I believe the state receives a 2% "transfer tax", 1% each from buyer and seller, based on the sales price. I'm curious as to whether the new bill increases that fee, or adds some new fee?

Here's an updated list of some of the lobbying going on with it.

The IBA and Alliance work together very closely and we Co-host the legislative night every year in DM.
We have never officially joined because there are times when you need to move quickly. Not all sports groups agree on all subjects and sometimes it takes the Alliance awhile to decide. So we work together but seperately.
I have to go to work, but will later today post IBA update. For now we support NONE of the legislation talked about.

3. They don't reside in Iowa so they are not shopping daily at local businesses helping Iowa's economy grow. They are not paying any local option sale's taxes to support our schools or other public projects. They are not puchasing gas and other fuel in Iowa on a regular basis so their not supporting our road maintainance thru gas taxes.

Not all NR's bud. I do all of these everyday.

Tomo, Then move here and pay some Iowa income taxes as well! Then while your here you can also pay utilities in Iowa. How about some property taxes on your home in Iowa. How about vehicle registration in Iowa. I could go on but don't really see the point. If you don't understand how a State generates operating money than I'm just wasting my time. If I were to guess you probably work in Iowa but live just across the border in SD so you don't have to pay state income taxes. A common practice around Sioux City and Sioux Falls. Don't really care either way but would like to thank you for your contribution.

Well maybe a little but it has more to do with the 8+ pound walleyes I catch in the lake I live on and the pheasant hunting down the road and the turkeys that roost just across the road. Oh yes, and this guy that is still running around behind my house somewhere.

Now please excuse me, I can see from my back window that my tip-up flag is waving!

CamoMan, I'm not angry. Far from it. Sorry if it came across that way. Just trying to point out the differences between resident landowners and NR landowners. Mainly trying to show how resident landowners contribute more to the State of Iowa thru taxes and local economies. In contrast, as NR landownership increases the State of Iowa looses tax revenues and local economies suffer. This ultimatly places more tax/economic burdens on Iowa residents. Not to mention the decreased access for recreational activities.
