2nd Season

We had a nice second shotgun season this year. On Saturday we shot 12 deer and no guy shot more than one. That is really rare in our group. I think we ended up with 15 total. 3 racked bucks, 2 button bucks and the rest were does. I felt pretty good about it. Two of the racked bucks were pretty nice. For a group who's motto was "If it is brown it goes down", I thought everyone did pretty good at letting the small bucks go. At least they did actually pass on some because they were too small. By the way, I did enjoy helping out this season and I was one of those guys that bought a doe tag so I could hunt with the rest of the family.

Great job! Three does for every buck. If every hunter/group of hunters in the state would harvest three does per buck we wouldn't have a population problem.

Great hunt! One hunter I talked to said after he killed 6 bucks, the rest of his group told him maybe he ought to start passing up those small bucks and take more does. Maybe attitudes are starting to change, albeit slowly.
