I found this picture on another website. Thought it was kinda neat. I feel sorry for that deer though.

put it in a photo editing program and zoom into it, its definitely too small to be a leg. looks more like a stump

Picture a deer taking a step forward and extendeing the leg. I suppose it is possible for the deer to be missing a leg but just do not see it in this picture. The "bone"extending downward looks to me like a front leg from the carpus down

I think that it just has it's front right up to take a step. Kind of like it's on point, small piece sticking down is just the bottom 1/3 of it's leg.

I don't think the photo is clear enough to show the hoof or bone stump so we might not ever know but unless it is using that leg, it has too much muscle tone there to be 3-legged. I still agree with Shredder's first post.

I knew deer could get around on 3 legs but I never would have guessed they could live without a head! How would it eat?

I got my latest edition of "Buckmasters" a couple days ago. They have two pictures of this deer in there. And it DOES only have 3 legs. It looks like a pretty healhty doe otherwhise.

I agree with jerad,I can see a hoof also. And if it truly was a 3 legged deer,I think you would see a circular deer trail in the picture.
