My strutter is a 2 or 3 year old bird I shot and mounted a long time ago,with alot of wire holding his tail on, after all of the beatings he has taken. Maybe a single jake and hen would work better.

I rarely ever call, so I am not sure if the older birds are decoy shy or dont want to be chased by the others. Do you see the loners try to compete with the younger toms? The 2 and 3 year olds appear to run the show here, with the loners off to the side, getting what they can.
With the kids, we almost always have the decoys out, but my plan for bowhunting the skinny bearded bird will be just setting up in one of my blinds on a corn or clover field that narrows down to 30-40 yards like in the pictures. Just gonna wait him out, no decoys or calling.If that does not work, I'll just keep trying to find him and get ahead of him.
