I would look at kieffer. I’ve had zero issues in southern iowa. U r a bit N but I am going to guess they do just fine.Can anyone recommend pears that do well in northern Iowa?

So here is the plan, the blue line is the fruit trees, I'm going to plant clover around them. To the East will be a 2.5 acre food plot. Gonna be a mix of beans and then seed brassica into them this fall. The red line is a giant myscanthus screen I am planting this week to make it easy to get in and out of the elevated blind and also screen the plot from the road. To the west is field crop, and I'm gonna have the guy farming next to mine farm it and leave me an acre or two.

But they are assasins!Voles will get trapped and I put some boxes with some goodies in em where only they can get em.
for drought - just water if it’s bad…. Not hard. Can buy a cheap tank. One idea is to buy a 5 gallon bucket for each tree. Drill small hole in bottom. Fill up bucket during drought. Some years u won’t need it.
