good crowd on saturday. cruising the aisles, i was thinking, "damn, quite a few people, but its really moving along nice".........until you hit the scnetlok booth, with don and kandi kisky, and lee and tiffany lakosy. there was quite a backlog of people talking to lee and tiff. and another row of people, just standing there, staring at tiffany....sad to say, that was my row. (i'll take more crap about that later, i'm sure).
then you can see the banner above the booth of iowawhitetail. and the crowd slows. you start to peek over the people infront of you and start seeing some familiar faces. by the time you actually hit the booth, you have spotted all the people whose names you know, and have met someone new (or two). the crowd is so big at the booth, its 10-15 degrees warmer at the booth, than anywhere else at the classic. (well, maybe not, i start to sweat if i get with in 15 feet of tiffany).
one thing struck me. i overheard onecam trying to explain the site to someone that had no idea what we were. chris is telling him we are just a group of people passionate about deer hunting, swapping stories, and sharing tips about hunting. and as i looked over the crowd standing around the booth, i thought, that to the common person, we must look like a bunch of idiots. a big gathering of deer crazed goofs with too much time on our hands. and then, i looked over the crowd again, and saw people who have never seen each other face to face, talking like they were best friends back in highschool, and thought, to some of us, we are a little more than deer obsessed weirdos..........
so, today is the last day, if you aren't snowed in, get off your ass and head to the classic. the booth is awesome, the merchandise is selling like hotcakes, chris has some cutties ringing up sales (i hear one has a boyfriend around here, and the other one, as long as tiffany isn't around, i might be in love with
) and there a TON of monster bucks on display. you can see, live and in person, the buck that SWEPT the IBA awards banquet, the infamous taylor hircock buck!
come on down. i have to see if i can bust enough drifts to pick up my nephew and show him the "big bucks"
see ya there
