I found it really odd that both the bucks I skinned and several I've seen skinned during shotgun season had no fat reserves at all. Usually the rump and back of bucks this time of year are covered with a thick layer of white talo. Rut must have taken its toll on these bucks, and not a great condition to be entering into Winter.
