Bow strings and cables

I shoot an SQ2 that is about 4-5 years old. It seems like I go through a string a season and I have to change cables every two years or so. Do any of you have any suggestions for a string / cable combo that might last a few seasons? I have heard good things about Winner's Choice, but are they worth teh extra $?

Winners Choice and I have heard good things about Vapor Trail but have no experience with those. You can't go wrong with a Winners Choice though. Also make sure you don't have a small burr on your cam. Just the slightest nick can cause all kinds of trouble.

I think I'd let them get all fuzzy and frayed. Only the BEST administrators shoot with those string silencer type strings, right OneCam?

I have a set of vapor trail string and cables on my LX and have been very happy with them! They are about $65.00 a set,and vapor trail service is outstanding!

Its all about priorities Limb, you can buy a hundred dollar string and cable once a year or you can spend thousands of dollars to shoot some dirty geese. I guess thats just how I roll.

4 boxes of Remington Hevi shot, 100 dollars.
50 bigfoot goose decoys, 1000 dollars.
Getting your truck stuck after you find the biggest the deer of your life, Priceless.

I prefer to take my bow in to replace the strings and sabotage it so that the people working on my bow break it and blow it up, then I just get a new bow.

What kind of Strings are you putting on that you are having to replace? If they are factory made strings from mathews, that is your problem right there. I'm not bashing the bow company, they make great bows, but their factory strings are horrible! I have experience with both Winners Choice and Vapor Trail strings and cables. I personally think that both of those companies make great products and are definitly worth the money. I also agree that any nick or burr in your cam could also be the reason for the strings going bad. My advice...Check your cam, make sure it is in good shape with out any nicks or burrs, then go out and buy a good quality string like Winners Choice or Vapor Trail, Wax the string frequently, and things will work out. Remember, some things are worth the money spent, I beleive that bow strings and cables are too important to try and save money on.
