They look better then my winter greens they went to crap anybody know if the deer will still eat them I am a little bummed about it I have a pretty good chunk of change in them. Everybody that I know who has planted them this year having same problems
Do you think they will still eat them I do have some nice turnips on themWintergreen's are just brassicas so they did poorly for the same reasons as everyone's did...too much water. On well drained soils brassicas and corn did fairly well but on heavy soils with out good drainage they suffered.
Sometimes even though we do everything right...the weather puts a kink in our plans...![]()

This is Imperial wintergreens too. Isn't the grassy looking stuff Kale? We put 200 lbs of 19-19-19 on before seeding.
Two years ago we put way to much lime in this very spot and haven't checked the ph since. Would the ph be to high cause this? There has not been a lot of rain on this since we planted so I don't think that's the case. Thanks guys
No...kale is a brassica...looks just like rape and turnips for the most part so you have something else growing in there, probably added with the wintergreen mix I presume.
I use a minimum of 80-100#'s of actual nitrogen and 100#'s each of actual P&K so that requires 200#'s or 46-0-0 urea and 400#'s of 6-24-24
Triple 19 is great but you probably needed 400-5003's per acre.
Brassicas do better at higher PH's but without a soil test it's difficult to say if your PH is now to high??
