Buck Forage Oats

has anyone ever planted buck forage oats and if so did you like them also I am having trouble getting them in central Iowa trying to get a local ag company to start handling them if there was a need for a dealer in central Iowa let me know

BFO oats are the biggest rip off of any seeds I have ever tried!! I have tested them side by side in multiple plots on multiple farms with other common oats like Jerry oats.

In ALL cases deer refused to touch the BFO yet devoured the common spring oats. Oat seed is normally 8 bucks a bag while BFO is $35...just a complete farce!

If you read thru my thread on cereal grains in dbltree's corner you'll see what works and what doesn't and while the thread is long you'll eventually come to the BFO versus Jerry oats tests and then you can see for yourself.

Winter rye and common oats mixed with peas are a far far better and more attractive option that will also save you a bunch of money!:way:

Most of the "Buck on a Bag" seed is good seed, just unreasonably expensive and believe me I have tested nearly all of it. None of it is one wit better then common reasonably priced seeds but all good seed nonetheless.

BFO however is high priced and if deer have any other choice they will snub it outright.

I'm glad you asked about it first...just pick up some good quality spring oats like Jerry, Jim or Frank Forage oats that Welters carries and you'll be very happy with the results...
