After a long 3 year wait to draw a coveted non-resident deer tag and a precious week vacation, the weather this weekend and next week is forecasred to be warm. Please tell me the bucks will still on their feet in the daylight regardless, lie to me if you have to. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
 
Well......... If deer are like me when I was about 17-21 years old....

I was chasing the tail Day and Night, Hot or Cold!

They should be moving
 
When it's time................it's time. Warm, cold, rain, snow, don't make any difference. They'll still have a lip curl and a stiffy.....

I would personally be as concerned about the amount of corn still in the fields as the weather. Not to dampen your spirits any but I agree with the other comments, when its time its time. Just worried that some rut activity will be occurring under the cover of corn fields rather than in the traditional timber areas.

I suspect there will be a lot of nocturnal movment, especially with the warm temps. You'll just want to pack a lunch and stay in the woods all you can.

Seems like the more mature bucks don't start appearing until later in the month after many does have been bred and they have to really search for a hot one.

Plenty of 2 1/2 yr old bucks will keep you from getting bored while your waiting though.

you'll see deer, the mornings will be especially good!
but i agree with Paul, take a lunch and sit all day!

Thats what it is like in my area. You will see deer but an all day sit might be a good idea!
 
I am heading to IA tomorrow for 9 days. Same situation. Don't get discouraged. Time in the stand every chance you get. They are chasin now. I keep thinking if I'm persistent the opportunity will present itself sooner or later if I'm diligent enough.......#1 rule of hunting.... believe in what your doing is gonna pay off. #2 patience.
