Just thought it might be worth mentioning...and this is not a 'slam' to those who have posted by any means, just a little refresher...

Does anyone else cringe when these comments are made?:

- "probably a 'high-fenced' deer"
- "probably a trespasser"
- "it was probably shot illegally"

Maybe I'm way off, and I hope to not offend anyone, but just because someone shoots a monster bigger than the one we shot doesn't mean we immediately have to question the manner in which it was taken. If it was taken illegally, I'm guessing word will eventually come out...

Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but isn't this about sharing in each others' successes and being happy for someone else??

Just my 2 cents - again, not trying to offend anyone, just trying to promote a positive environment.
 
It is sort of sad when those are the first comments when we see a picture that has been forwarded a dozen times and there is no information other than it's a giant deer.

I appreciate this post.

Sure, every year there are true stories of hunters poaching buck, shooting behind fences, behaving badly, photo-shopping antlers, etc. We all cringe when we read them.

But the vast majority of big bucks taken each year are shot by moral, ethical and law-abiding hunters who are either very good, very lucky, or a combination of both.

Maybe I'm just an optimistic doofus, but I'm gonna believe the best until I hear the worst /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I agree! I always try to "squash" the "illegal" rumors when I hear them. They always rear their ugly head after someone shoots a big one. Too bad! Great post!
