Getting ready to start the cereal grain mix which "calls for" rye, oats, clover, peas, and radishes. What are thoughts on using rye and wheat instead of the oats? Thinking this would over winter better than the oats? Thoughts on skipping the oats and using rye/wheat combo?

Yes wheat will over winter better than oats. You can run into a problem with too many cereals surviving until the next year. Oats, IMO offer premier attraction for 45 days post planting AND they are gone in the spring when the rye, peas, and clovers fill in. Double benefit. YMMV

Just put winter rye, oats, peas and clover in one of my small plots that ended up in grass & weeds after two months of rain & not being able to get to it so pretty similar mix. It’s what I had on hand, will see…
