Collie not Sally...given it's size and lack of agility I'm guessing it was up there in age 8-10yrs old. After being blind sided by the deer and having a double hoof blow to the spine I'm guessing WTF was the dogs only thoughts.
Anyone ever spine shoot a deer?...seen their back legs rendered useless...pretty much what the dog looked like to me. That doe completely throttled that dog.
Did the dog have it coming? My opinion, NO. It should've been the dogs irresponsible owner that was being throttled by the doe, not the dog. And before anyone takes that out of context NO, I am not saying a dogs life is worth more than a humans. It's just pathetic that some urbanized white-collar dog owner doesn't have the common sense to keep their pet contained to their yard by a fence or leash...and the pet had to pay a price for the owners stupidity. I'm guessing the same owner didn't realize the power a wild deer actually contains because they believe in Bambi and all the other anthropomorphic disney cartoons of animals which caused them to be so excited to video tape the baby fawn.
Lesson learned the hard-way, poor dog.
I could care less about the cat:way:
...btw cranbrook is in British Columbia, so yes BlackTailed deer is the best bet
