Depredation Tag Program

Would you being willing to go though a class and pass a proficiency test (similar to urban hunt) to get your name placed on a list to give to farmers/landowners in the Depredation Tag Program?

i voted yes, but i'm sick of having to jump through hoops. i signed up on the DNR's website a couple years ago, so farmers with deer trouble could contact for help shooting deer. the only people i heard from, were trying to sell me a hunt. too many people sit back and bitch about their deer problems, but don't want to do anything about it

I also signed up for the program Troy, I never heard anything form anyone! I also know of several other hunters than signed up. None of them were contacted either.

I urge all of you iowawhitetail members to become politically
involved and contact your state representatives. We all need to stay informed, what is the DNR doing? What bills are before the state representatives? What is the NRC up to?

There will be a new program in place. I know what suggestions were made and what we thought the program should look like, but I'm not on committee to write final program.

The theory being if a hunter is willing to take a class and make the extra effort, he is someone that the farmer would be more comfortable with on his land.

The DNR will do a better job of putting hunters by counties. In theory just by being more local farmer maybe more inclined to allow you to hunt.

My thoughts are that a program like this would be utilized by a very very small number of landowners.

I thought I saw somewhere in all of this that they are asking to be able to just leave the deer to rot...what a sickening mess that would be!

I just don't get it? Why not have a program like the urban hunts?? Shoot a pile of does...get a buck tag...surely something like that could be implemented in individual cases where biologist's deemed that an etreme depredation program was warranted??

i was on another site, a landowner was crying about not being able to get enough deer taken off his land. the people he had hunting only hunted a few days, and didn't take many does. i offered to come down durring one of the late seasons (doe only) and help out, maybe bring a couple friends (dependind on land size, cover..etc) i told him to send me an email, or pm, and we could talk it over. never heard squat. too many people just want to bitch, and bitch

If your a landowner and your using the Depredation Program, then I feel your land should become open for public access. I also put my name on the list to be called by landowners and never got one call.

I'm also on that list and I too never got a call from anyone. Somethings wrong there! I also agree with Teeroy, there are only so many hoops I'm going to jump through to help these folks. You want to make it easier have the lockers hwere HUSH deer go have someone there to take deer on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
