Drop Tines

Hey Younggun- here is my first and only droptine buck. Shot him with my bow back in 2004 while hunting on the ground. Not the biggest either, but I was able to check that one off of my list of things to do before I die.

This is my best drop-tine buck. He scored a little over 200". I am also fortunate that they decided to use his silhouette as the official logo for Iowawhitetail.com.

Here is one that I shot a few years ago.

I shot a single droptine in my early years w/ a bow as well only problem was it was already broke off.

I have actually had 4 chances at drop tined deer. I'm cursed since the first one.

When I was 12 my dad took me out for shotgun season. The plan was I was to sit next to this tree and he would try pushing them past me. He said "now they will probably be running so you will have to lead them" I said "ok" Well sure enough deer come running. It was 4 does and a monster double droptine w/ a ten point typcal frame. Easily in the 190's.

The deer come running and I remember Dads advice "lead them when they are running" He comes by and I shoot three times just in front of him. It looked like nothing happened to him though. I took dads advice what went wrong.

What went wrong was they were only 4-5 yds away and you don't have to lead them at that distance.

Still haunts me to this day. I blame DAD.

The 4th one I just plain missed w/ a shotgun. He was a single drop.

I'm 2 for 4

I've jumped droptine bucks out of my switchgrass and cornplots over the years but I've never even got a trail cam pic of one let alone seen one from my stand

Heres my only droptined buck. Northern Minnesota 1991. Grosses 197. I've passed a few others up hoping they would get bigger but havn't run into them again. This is the only droptined deer I've ever shot at.

My very first deer I ever shot at, in my first year of hunting, had 2 4 inch droptines..he was an 8 pointer..definately not big, but I was tickled pink when i was 12...never seen one around with a weapon in my hand since.

My first "big buck' has drop off the back of the right main beam, it was busted off at about two inches, but was about an inch in circumference, so i guess it would have been a big drop, but ill never know for sure
