First time out huntin this year

SCOFFIN

Miles Coffin
And I'm sitting on the ground fuming beyond belief. My stand, steps, bow holder all gone. The person who did this had better find a witness protection program quickly. I have a good idea who and he had better return it or its gonna be an eye for an eye, except I may just one up him and cut his whole f'n tree down..

Was it your new Muddy or Gorilla?

If i knew it was him for sure I would cut the tree down with him in it:way:

I feel for ya man. Sucks when you go in to your stand in the dark and cant find it because some low life stole it. I missed a decent buck one year because I had to sit on the ground and got picked off.

my buddy put his up sat early afternoon then went back sat night and is stand was gone in 3 hours....

Was it public or private? I wish every one of these low lifes that do this crap would have their licenses revoked forever. Doesn't mean they won't keep doing it but at least they wouldn't have a reason to be out there.

those bad thoughts and feelings are intensified when you know who did it. I like the idea of just chainsawing their tree:way:

Sorry for your stand loss. But I'm sitting here smiling thinking about the look on the guys face when he walks up to his stand and trips over the tree that his stand is in cause it's laying on the ground! Just make sure you don't cut down the tree with YOUR stolen stand in it. Wouldn't want to ruin it.....

This was on private land that has another hunter on it. I was out with the landowner setting this stand. The taxi in town said a guy asked him about a stand he found on this property and he told him to leave it alone and leave me a note. I evidently set close to his stand and didn't know it. Taxi hunts out there occassionally too..

Good lead!!! Nice! Follow up & I'm curious how it goes. I hope you nail this dude!!! I got a cam stolen on some private ground that I have permission on that as of now, no one is supposed to be out there right now- just found the tree with no cam this weekend. Nail em! Hope guys get more hidden cameras out too.

Its unfortunate that hunting has so many low life thief's.

Exactly! It's CRAZY how many poachers, thieves, crooks, etc are in this sport. It's really sad. Sportsman stealing from other sportsman constantly (poaching and regular theft). That's pretty bothersome & upsets me that I share my passion with a large group of clowns & crooks.
I do NOT like GOLF but I can bet I rarely would have my golf clubs stolen from someone on the golf-course.

sorry to hear about your stand, but cutting down his tree is one of the funniest retaliations I've heard of!

I own my own land and still put locks on all of my hang on stands just in case some of neighbors stray a little too far. I would rather be over protective than to see that one of my stand has been ripped off.

I feel for you brother and would probably not hesitate cutting his tree down either.

I'm tired of people stealing stands. I've never had one stolen myself, but I pack in and out each trip on public land. The same people that steal them I'm sure would be very upset if they walked to their favorite draw on Nov 15 and their stand was missing.

Trespassing/stealing stands

This seems to be a problem more so in Iowa than other states. For example, I have never had to deal with any major trespassing or had stands stolen in MN on 6-7 different properties for a stretch of 25 years, not one intentional incident.

Last year on my Iowa farm, trespassing galore, hunters using blinds and then leaving wrappers in the blind, gut piles 50 yards from the blind...I was kinda shocked to tell you the truth.

Why is it so common in Iowa?

My stand was locked down. I've had stands on public land all year and they haven't been bothered. But of course, they have no steps on them to make it easier on potiential theifs. If they have to work for it, it's generally not worth the bother. Private land I had hoped I wouldn't have this issue, so I leave the screw in steps in the tree, but may have to rethink that thinking if it happens again.

I swear I saw a blind 100 yards away from where I was sitting. I didn't have time to check it out because I had to get out of the woods at 5:45pm. I think I'll check it out today. What pissed me off was it was where the deer bed and nobody hunts there not even me.

I started removing the first 3 pegs and just carry them in every time and screw them in and away we go. Good luck getting your stand back. It seems that it happens to everyone lately.
