Getting Water to Deer

I have a piece of property that is on the west end of a patch of timber (forest) that is about 4 miles by 4 miles. There is not water in the area and was wondering if anyone ever buried a stock tank and filled it up with water. I was thinking of a large 1000 gallon tank that is about 9 foot wide by 2.4 foot deep. I think I''d just have to fill it once a year. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

I think?......... Build a pond! If you are going to the trouble of burying a stock tank

You can get very low interest loans for pond building!

check with your county conservation commission, or ASCS office. i think at one time, a year or 2 ago, they were helping out with around 75% of pond building costs. and no, if you build a pond, and the DNR helps fund/stock the pond, you do NOT have to let anyone and everyone fish it

I am working on building a pond right now. Cost share was available but there was a three year waiting list in my county! I opted for a 3% govt. loan. Pretty good deal if you ask me. Dozer operators get around $120 an hour but they can do alot in just a few hours. Good luck!
