The .454 Casull is great for hunting whitetails. I used a borrowed Freedom Arms chambered in .454 with a 2x6 Bushnell 3200 Firefly scope on it for an antlerless whitetail hunting in Alabama 2 years ago. The mature does down there only weigh 90 lbs and I think I could have killed one with a spit ball but the Casull was a lot more fun.
.44 mags and .480 rugers are nice (I’ve shot both) and will work on whitetails just fine but if you want to be Big and Bad and cannot swing a S&W 500, I’d recommend the Casull. Hearing protection is required and the recoil is big!
As far as the Raging Bull, it’s all about personal preference, any gun is great when it fits you, functions flawlessly and you can hit stuff with it.
My hunting rig is a Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 mag with a 2x Leupold.
