Open your cupboards and look in the upper corners...I almost puked a few nights ago when I discovered dozens of them all bunched together in every corner of our cupboards...YUCK! They reak too if you touch them. What is the deal with them? What purpose do they serve, where did they come from, why are there trillions of them....we have a dyson vaccuum just parked in our kitchen and I suck them up about every hour. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

My wife says "how come ours is the only house that gets them". We get thousands of them. Sometimes the house is covered in them so much, you can't even see the siding. Boxelder bugs also.

Make sure you plug the end of the hose on that vaccuum, or they will crawl right back out. They are determined little buggers. Ours are gathering in just one particular corner of our living room. It makes the wife sick.

You can thank the DNR for them. They were imported to help farmers with Avids. DNR did the same thing in MI. They are a nuisance but I used to have avids on my apple trees. Since they came,,no more avids. What we need is cold! Looks like the end of the week,,Hopefully,,although they can stand alot of cold.

The gnats are back too. Can't wait for it to get cold again.

Use a Pyrethroid insecticide, Demon or Tempo brand name early for control outside or now for control inside. Typically the weather don't kill them, they go dormant as adults, so if you have them now you will see them again in the spring unless you kill'em. The problem started when the soybean aphid spread across the cornbelt from WI. As the population exploded the pop of the lady beetles (predator)did too. Let's a prey for cooler weather, The Little black pecker gnats have been a bigger problem for me.

i love em

The little black gnats are indeed back and they are worse.
For hunting anyway.

Around the house.... there are sprays you can get to get rid of the beatles and boxelders.
TripleSeven makes a good one and HomeDefense is another.

No getting away from them and no keeping them out /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

We vaccum them up and then dump it in the burning barrel and lite it up! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

When they are on the outside siding along with the box elder bugs I mix up some liquid laundry detergent and water in my gallon sprayer and kill them with that. Cheap, efective and rewarding. Once they are in the house we use a HDBS (heavy duty bug sucker).

The 'Bonker

My Grandpa has always complained about them biting him and all I could do was laugh about it, saying "they look like a ladybug quit being a sissy". Well one of them took, (what felt like) a 6 chunk outta that back of my neck friday and from then on I have made it a mission to kill everyone of them little bastards.
