HF-289 O My Goodness!!!!

Lets say I "gave" my land owners tag away, could the person I "gave" it to turn around and sell it? How many times could a tag change hands? If I give my tag away, the guy doesn't kill any deer druing his hunt, can I "give" it away again?

More loop holes than the tax laws.

Only one of these people is on the NR committee and knowing what I know now...no more then one (if any) of these people has hunted for anything more then votes

"They" (Farm Bureau, Real Estate Lobby, Guide Services) know there would be no support from the people that actually know what's going on.... they're trying to backdoor it around the NR Committees.

Fight to defeat this one to the end !

I talked to my legislator today and explained the problems this will cause and how it has affected Kansas. He didn't realize the loophole it would cause and wanted to know more about how Kansas law reads. Sounded like they were just looking for a way to help decrease the deer herd. I'm sure with some calls we can stop this dead in its tracks. I would start with your own legislator then call those who are sponsoring this bill. My guess is FB is pushing as hard as ever. My legislator doesn't want to do anything to cause increased leasing or NR landownwership. Everyone needs to call their legislator and tell them to put a stop to this legislation. Could someone please link me to the Kansas legislation that explains how this transfer can occur. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

No worry. Its dead meat. I’ve advised Bell I WON”T accept the bill in the Senate. Actually, he is chair of the Natural Resources Committee in the House, and I advised him to kill the bill there.

Good news for sure but we still need to have our voice of reason be heard.

I agree. I think even if the bill is dead it helps to pound the message home. It might help straighten out their thought process since you know there will be more crappy bills next year.

It is amazing how little most of them know about deer and deer hunting and all that goes with it...never hurt to keep them "informed".
