hunting with an assult rifle

I know of a few people that hunt with SKS's.

They work ok on Does, but are on the small side for a mature buck.

AR-15's are great varmit rifles and a lot of predator hunters here in ND use them.

Please dont call them assault rifles.

They are rifles and I use an AR for Praiie Dogs.

"Assualt rifles" is the term used by anti-gun owners.

I don't use an assualt rife to hunt. I use a clip fed, self loading .223 that just happens to have a hand grip.

Are DPMS Panther Arms a good brand? I don't know jack about anything ohter than the Colts. Not sure I want to spend "Colt money!"

Bushmaster, DPMS and to a lesser extent, Olympic Arms, are the big 3 in black guns. I have two bushys so I'm kinda brand loyal, but I've never read anything bad about DPMS and as far as Oly, they don't get as much press as the other two. Doesn't mean they are bad investments, just means I haven't read that much about Olys.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those three.

EDIT: As far as money, you're gonna pay alot for any of them. I think Olys are the less expensive but still expet to pay 7-8 hundy for the A2 standard carbine and around 11-15 hundy for the Varmint/Predator models.

DPMS makes great guns from what I understand. Rock River Arms also makes a great gun. I purchased one last year. I cannot believe how well they shoot, just as good as any bolt action rifle I have ever shot.

DPMS/Panther are top notch. I don't own one but from what i have heard/read the quality is unmatched. Very nice guys too. Small local company. From St. Cloud, MN.
