I can't stand it anymore . . . !!!

Gotta tell you guys the same thing. We don't hate NR hunter; in fact I like all ethical hunters and will continue to welcome all NR hunters and help any I meet to the best of my limited abilities. But I will also continue to resist any changes to the licensing provisions of the law that I feeel are detrimentel to me. Not because the NR are necessarily bad but because the number of them allowed here may be bad. NR hunters are not that much different then us but they have additional pressure on them to make a harvest due to cost of the trip/hunt and that may change their priorities. I hope that makes sense! Anyhow, a hunter is a hunter no matter where they're from and we all have good and bad. Bottom line is keeping Iowa a great place for whitetail hunting. Maggs

Ditto to what Maggs and everyone else has said.
I dont dislike NR's, as individuals, at all. If I did I would be a huge hipocrite. I've deer hunted Missouri, Indiana, Wyoming, and Mississippi twice, twice to Wyoming for antelope, and prarie dogs once in Colorado and three times in South Dakota. So I have been the NR many times. By the way, only killed one deer (doe) and two antelope in all those trips, but it was always fun to experience a different place. Always cheap, do-it-yourself hunts with friends.

I have always felt pretty welcome in those states. In fact it occured to me that they were probably nicer to me as a NR than if I had lived across town from them. Likewise, I always try to help the NR's I see hunting here because others have helped me when I was out of state. All the NR bowhunters I have talked to in Iowa have been real nice guys.

Having said that, I'm with with the others who will fight any attempts to change a system that works well for us. That is exactly why I joined the IBA and have encouraged my friends to do the same. Not to shut out NR's, just to protect Iowa's hunting (mostly from legislators BTW). Joined the NRA for the same type of reasons. Support those who look out for you.

I wish good luck to anyone who draws and plays by the rules.

I agree with all above. I'm addicted to this site because of the information and knowledge gained (see mission statement) and the quality of the members. I too hope this topic dies down and we get back to talking deer.

With that said I'd like to offer one more thing before I turn my thoughts back to deer.

Many of you know that Husker is a friend and co-worker of mine. And as stated in his thread above he's also a Wisconsin resident.

But please don't hold that part against him. He's really an OK sort of fella.

In fact, I'd like to propose to CLADWIP (Commitiee to Limit and Distribute Wisconsin Immigrating People)that a few extra preference points be awarded to Husker and his family to bump them up the waiting list. It shouldn't be a much of a de-programming issue because his kids are pretty little yet which should be a piece of cake. And his wife is not a natural born Wisconsin resident. Plus, based on telephone conference calls with her, I don't think she talk's much.

So, if any of you Rendevous thingy people that have met Slim want to put in a good word or two for him and his family, go ahead. We should be OK with this one.....................

I have very similar feelings to what has already been expressed. I welcome NR's who come to Iowa to enjoy a special hunting opportunity and respect the resource and the people here and so forth. I do get annoyed though when a NR comes on this site, or others like it, and starts calling Iowan's names, berating our deer management practices, threatening or impyling legal action to get their way and otherwise pitching a fit. Consequently, I reserve the right to reply to that type of claptrap, although lately I mostly read and ignore those posts out of respect of the site and it's administrators. ( I do not want to see this site degenerate, like so many others have, into a big mudslinging mess. I do think healthy, constructive debate is a good thing though and I welcome that.)

If our deer management was so bad here in Iowa then I doubt there would be a "line forming" to come here and sample it. Nor would there be great arguments over who gets to hunt when and how, etc. I am not even saying that all of our regulations were intentionally set to produce quality bucks, but accidentally or otherwise, the effect is that they have. This stands in stark contrast to other states and contributes to people wanting to come here for what they should be able to get at home. To me then, it only stands to reason that Iowa would be well advised to continue to do things just a bit differently than everyone else.

As far as being a NR elsewhere... Yes, I have hunted out of state and enjoyed doing so. But do you know what... I abided by the rules set forth by those states and have never gone on other web-sites making a jerk out of myself to get those states to change their rules to suit me better! I trust their judgment and right to make rules that suit them and allow us as NR's the opportunity to also participate.

As far as the implied legal actions that some continue to allude to... I say quit yapping about it and "get 'er done". You might find that it isn't as simple as some would make it out to be. Good luck anyway.

In the end, I sincerely hope that NR's and R's alike can use this site as it is intended, cooperatively. I hope all of the name callers and pot stirrers get tired and take their act elsewhere.

I love this site . I have met some of the best people I could imagine, on this site. There are a hand full of people that have made me feel very at home here. When ever I see the threads going to bashing and mudslinging, I just stop reading it, and I too would like to see it stop and get back to why we come to this site day after day.

I also love to read the posts on this site and I am very addicted to talking deer. Sometimes people get pulled into
discussions that exceed and go over the limit to what the purpose and intent of this site was intended for.
Rack, I hope you don't feel that your not welcome. If I send you a get out of jail free card will that help any!!
I also have connections with the Missouri State Patrol! You are as welcome as can be. If you need a place to hunt in Zone 4 or are looking for some new spots, send me a private or yell at me at the classic if your headed up this way.
