Middle of the bean field with 7 hens...not even a little chance of them coming our way

Now doggone it...that's frustrating...

but way cool to watch...and learn

Every morning plenty of gobbling between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m....then the gobblers hit the dirt...grab hens and shut up.

At least we got to watch these for 2 hours!!!

At about 8:30 the hens...one by one literally ran in different directions until only one remained..and the toms followed her (and it wasn't by us

)

We're hunting two completely different sets of turkeys...one heads right for the open fields the other struts every morning in the timber.

This morning two beautiful toms came gobbling and strutting to my calling but stayed 50 yards from the decoys.

I reminded my son that if he'd brought my 10 gauge instead of his little 20...one of those birds would be dead.

hahahahaha. My dad and brother tried that last year and the wind caught the blind and lifted off of them. They said they felt like two hookers in church.

That would be a site. Happened to me at work with a pop up utility tent. I had to plice some phone cable in 35 mph wind so I set up my tent, went to the truck to get tools came back and the tent was gone. Almost blew clear across a golf course. If the wind gets under them damned things they'll take off like a scalded dog.

At first I thought it was just a fluke since the birds had been strutting the same spot for a month...but the next day they were back

Three of them this time...starting to feel like the only guy at the dance...not dancing

I moved my blind to where they were and...they appeared yet another 100 yards away...still ignoring my calling and decoys

Did get to see a rooster do the 100 yard dash by my blind

and watching the sun come up while listening to the woods ring with daybreak gobbles isn't all bad:

Had a couple friends stop by for a hunt....you could tell they wern't from around here.

They ought to know better then to leave a cooler full of ice cold High Life's setting on my patio...all alone with me...on a nice warm spring afternoon....

May not have a turkey yet...but life is good!

You know, I had a bottle of Muddies brew when I got home that night. I thought the cap felt a little loose and it tasted kinda funny. Hey, did you drink 'em and fill 'em back up with recycled beer? Muddy would never have tasted the difference but I sure did. Or am I worng about the loose cap and recycled beer and that is the way those Millers are supposed to taste?

Thanks for the opprotunity and the hospitallity. Too bad nuthin happened that will make the Bowhunter, or did it? You and Muddy will just have to wait and see, not that I'd make anything up or nuthin.
