Middle of the bean field with 7 hens...not even a little chance of them coming our way
Now doggone it...that's frustrating...
but way cool to watch...and learn
Every morning plenty of gobbling between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m....then the gobblers hit the dirt...grab hens and shut up.
At least we got to watch these for 2 hours!!!
At about 8:30 the hens...one by one literally ran in different directions until only one remained..and the toms followed her (and it wasn't by us
)
We're hunting two completely different sets of turkeys...one heads right for the open fields the other struts every morning in the timber.
This morning two beautiful toms came gobbling and strutting to my calling but stayed 50 yards from the decoys.
I reminded my son that if he'd brought my 10 gauge instead of his little 20...one of those birds would be dead.
