I will swap some of the finest flooded timber arkansas duck hunting with anyone that could give me the opportunity at 150" buck with a bow. We do have bucks like that around here, but not in the quantities that ya'll do.
Where abouts are you Quackmaster? I have some friends down there in Paragould that we set up for Pheasants and they inturn set us up in flooded timber and rice fields. Pretty good deal!
moose don't feel bad I passed on a 150" 10 pointer this morning because i saw a 170 to 180 in there 2 days ago. I even drew on him at 20 yards thinking all I have to do is twitch my finger and your mine. Ill tell you it's tough when you have a 250 lb 150" buck just standing there looking awesome. But in hindsight I know I made the right decision because he is only 3 1/2 next year he'll be 160, 170 and I still have a chance at the monster. It's early and you know there are bigger more mature bucks out there. If you keep on having that type of patience the big boy will be in your sights someday. Congrats on a great hunt.

I live in Little Rock, (no I don't claim Bill clinton as a personal friend). Paragould is quite abit NE of the areas I hunt. I have access to private clubs and ground around the stuttgart area and south of there. I also have access to lots of flooded rice fields. Being buddies with alot of the farm guys while I was in college has led to some several good places to go.
I would never fault anyone for harvesting a 150 class deer. However, those who let them walk (at least in the midwest) have a great understanding of the potential of the whitetails in our area...and their passion is the hunt and not the harvest. Most people congratulate the harvest. I congratulate you moosehunter for taking your hunting to a new level. When the season is all said and done, I doubt you will ever kick yourself in the butt for the choice you made. Who knows...maybe you will pick up his sheds next spring and lace an arrow through his rib cage next fall!
wow! you know what I would of done and did I know the feeling in reverse im gunna be sad in november.but I will be warm dry and getting my work done lol.
All depends on your area and the amount of time you have to hunt.
If you have lots of both........
Me? It would have been a hard call. I try to target a specific deer. If I can kill the biggest one I know of in a certain location, I'm very pleased. I enjoy the mistery bucks that showup during the rut but I like to think I've removed as much luck from the equasion as humanly possible. I find it very rewarding. (now watch... I kill a deer I've never seen before!
I have watched some of Kisky's videos showing the potential for growth by letting the 140-160 class deer walk. It is absolutely amazing what they have harvested by letting those bucks walk and then taking them several years later.
As for me, I don't know what the hell I would do!!! I only hope I am faced with the decision real soon!!!!
You guys amaze me! If you are seeing as many 150+ bucks as you say you are, I am definitely doing something wrong. Either that or our understanding of what a 150+ buck is is very different.
i agree kelcher, personally i don't like to wait too much, too many variables, the shot alone may never present itself in the same way, let alone a shotgun hunter who has rights to the land taking him. i also waited on a buck for next year and he got hit by a car within the month, if you are fearing regret now you'll be kicking yourself if you can't match or better your take you had a chance for, bottom line is you have to be comfortable with the choice that you make
