What a perfect morning to be in the stand calm and cool, deer should be moving all over. I got to my stand early this morning and had a few deer moving but not too much was going on. I decided to rattle a little, it was calm you could hear and see for miles. I did a short rattling sequence and about a minute later I look just over my right shoulder and see a gorgeous 10 pointer coming right in. He walked right to the fence and trail I am set up on. He stays on the trail stops underneath my tree for a second to look around, puts his head down and keeps moving, I draw while he is behind a tree branch, he steps out in the open and I let it fly! I didn't hear the thud you normally do when you hit a deer with an arrow ( shot right over him) and he trots off down back into the crick bottom he came from. He stops about 50 yards to the north of me and looks around for a minute and slowly walks in to the timber. I think he was around 160"-170" deer. He was at 8 freaking yards! How the hell could I have missed. I got down to look at my arrow and not a drop of blood on it. Atleast it was a clean miss but I still can't believe I missed. Got back to the house checked my sights and shot my bow and it is on so I must of had a little buck fever. Going to get a quick bite to eat then head back out. What a morning.
