Idea for Tresspassers and Poachers

I've got some land that the neighbors like to walk the fence on during their drives and I've heard that they've killed many deer on our side in the past. A friend of mine makes these flags:

www.amcflags.com/details.aspx?q=2

And I was thinking of making a flag in yellow with black letters that says the following:

Federal Trespassing &
Poaching Surveillance
*Wireless Camera's on Premises
*Up to $20,000 Fine per Animal
*Suspension of Hunting Privileges
Case ID Code: DNR506-17-5121

I'd post them along the fence edges. The land is really hilly so I could put them frequently along the fence. I thought it would be a somewhat cheap way to get the point accross.

On page 13 of the Iowa Hunting Regulation’s it says that any deer unlawfully taken over 150 points will be fined up to $10,000 and 80 hours of community service, in lieu of the community service a minimum of $10,000 and not more than $20,000 in an amount that is deemed reasonable by the court.

Do you guys think this is stupid?
Would you change how it reads?

Thanks, Cory

i think its a great idea and i would put them on every single fence post that surrounds my property.... but on the other hand people are idiots and a flag even saying what you posted probally isnt going to stop some people but its worth the effort in my opinion....

Put them up, it sure can't hurt

I had a buddy put up a sign that said "If you can read this sign, your in range!, privite property, keep out"

I don't know if it stopped anyone, but I'd sure think twice

yeah that would be awesome, we havent had many problems yet so if we do i might have to give your buddy a call

I don't know guys, I think alot of those signs are just beacons for low lifes thinking you got something on that place that they are going to want. Like a 200 inch plus whitetail.

I wouldn't put them out, but that's just me. I bet you will find alot of them missing, or alot more treestands on your fencelines.

I agree people trying to catch a poacher don't advertise. Plus your nieghbors most likely know its not fedral ground and think your hidding something.

I think its a good idea but i would change the wording to just property under surveillance.

I know this is about hunting, but I had a student tell me that his dad set a bear trap in his barn for a repeated trespasser using it for meth...

He came out one morning to find his guy alrighty!! He sat there with the man in the trap while he called the police!!

I don't recommend setting bear traps but I thought it was kind of funny (kind of relates to trespassing!!)

I wouldn't put up anything...if I did, it would be a personal note telling them that you are monitoring your farm more closely and will press charges if you have to...that's just my opinion...

Over and out

All my signs have been shot to pieces by obvious lowlifes

Where I live I don't use them and I get a long better with nieghbors...they ask and respect how I feel.

The other ground I keep a bare minimum of No Tresp. signs set back from the road somewhat and have friends keep an eye on it.

I also gave permission to my CO to "hide" on my property...can't get any better protection then that
