If only the Democrats would............

support gun rights, how many of you would consider voting for them? I believe this is the one thing that causes many people to vote Republican. Sarah Palin may be pro-gun and pro-hunting but isn't she also pro-big oil? If you support oil drilling in the north country, you need to read "A CRY FROM THE NORTH" in the June issue of Field&Stream.

Pro big oil??????

If helping the average american by producing more oil and bringing down the price of fuel is "pro big oil," then I guess I am pro big oil too!!!

If only every single person would take the time to investigate the issues AND canidates themselves instead of listening to the biased newscasts and rumors at the local cafe it would be very clear who should get the vote in November. JMO /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

No way would I ever even consider voting democrat.

I firmly believe the best government is no government and
I do not need them to support me.

Conservative all the way. McCain is not my first choice but better than the alternative.

I agree 100%...

I vote pro gun, pro life, against gay marriage and for less government.... So I will never be voting democrat.....

For those of you who are thinking about voting for a democrat, here is my take. The first Presidential election I voted in was Ford v Carter. I voted Carter because of the Nixon hangover. The economy was in the crapper with high inflation. Ford wanted us to plant WIN gardens to Whip Inflation Now. It was a throw back to WW2 with Victory gardens etc. There was even a wage and price freeze. Then in 1992 I voted for Slick Willey, mainly because 12 years of republicans was enough. In both instances I sure wish I coulda had my vote back. As bad as it was under Ford it was worse under Carter and Slick Willey, well depending on which talking head you listen to America is a better or worse place because of him. Depends on the issues you hold near and dear.

Having said that I won’t make the same mistake three times. Every time I voted for a democrat for President I lost some thing only to have it restored by the next republican to take office.

If you want change I believe either candidate is a change candidate. McCain would have been the republican candidate in 2000 but the party wasn’t ready and didn’t want his brand of republicanism. Now the party base of power has moved and it is ready for a change.

The 'Bonker

I can't think of any issues I ever agree with the Dems on???!?!? I disagree with some things Repubs do BUT I agree with most. I think the ONLY thing I agree with the Dems on is maybe the ENVIRONMENT but that's about it. Liberal Whackos that run the Dem party are a huge threat to our country and to hunting, guns, etc.

Had this emailed to me.

If any are incorrect please speak out.

If it is correct the choice is simple in my eyes. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN------0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.
OBAMA------28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN------15% (no change)
OBAMA------39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

INCOME TAX
MCCAIN - (no changes)------

.......Single making 30K - tax $4,500
.......Single making 50K - tax $12,500
.......Single making 75K - tax $18,750
.......Married making 60K- tax $9,000
.......Married making 75K - tax $18,750
.......Married making 125K - tax $31,250
OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)------Single making 30K - tax $8,400
.......Sin gle making 50K - tax $14,000
.......Single making 75K - tax $23,250
.......Married making 60K - tax $16,800
.......Married making 75K - tax $21,000
.......Married making 125K - tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

INHERITANCE TAX
MCCAIN------- 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)
OBAMA------Restore the inheritance tax
Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA
.......New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.
.......New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already)
.......New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)
.......New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least... .
.......New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

I still wouldn't vote for Obama due to his tax plan. I don't know about anyone else, but I like more money in my pockets, less government, and more guns!

A source would be nice on something like that. I'm guessing Obama would dispute your income tax figures, stance on iraq, judicial appointment statement, nationalized health care statement, and probably others....but the email FW is probably closer to truth than fiction all said and done IMO. It will be an interesting next couple of months!

So did anyone read that piece in Field&Stream? I've always voted Rep. and probably will again but I also would like to protect some wild places. If we don't, who will?

Just don't believe everything you hear from either side. I spent 31+ years with the IRS and my experience was that any time either party said that they were going to simplify the IRS code and make taxes fairer the middle class took it right in the wallet. The facts are that the government is growing faster than any other segment of the economy. The department of home land defense is hugh and growing. The destruction that we have had in the midwest and now the gulf coast is going to take billions to repair and it is all going to come out of the middle class. So hang on to your shorts cause its going to be a rough ride who ever you elect.

i've recieved a similar email, with similar numbers. i'm pretty sure all those new taxes and tax increases will put me in the poor house alot quicker that $4 gas.

On the issue of drilling in Alaska the way I understand it is if you take a standard 8 1/2 X 11 paper and take your pen and make a dot with the tip of your pen. That is how much room they would need to drill in Alaska. I say DRILL ON!

My understanding of the whole oil deal is that it's not so much a shortage of oil. More of the shortage of oil refineries. Doesn't matter how much land you let them rape for oil if you can't get it refined into gas to keep up with the demand nothing will change except the land that's being drilled.
I believe the last oil refinery we built was at least 40 years ago. You can't possibly expect that refinery to run to today's needs.
If they do drill they say it would be 10 years before we'll see the effect at the pump anyway. Hell by then we'll be flyin around like the Jetsons.

It'd be great if we could get a true conservative on the ticket but until then I'll vote for the least liberal. Obama was rated the MOST liberal senator by National Journal in 2007 so...guess that pretty much rules him out. In fact I am truly afraid for the future of this country if we get someone that far left wing into the white house.

I'm 'hoping' that Palin will be able to reign in McCain on some of his dumber views. For example, I'm not convinced he's ready to guard the border better, and crack down on illegals. She seems to have a lot of fire, and if he gives her any permission to speak freely, I believe he'll hear some blunt truth from her. I'm going to watch their team for awhile, but by choosing Palin, McCain is closer to getting my vote (Don't fret - Obama was never an option).

Yeh I read it. I couldn't help but thinking of the global warming money grab the whole time I was reading it.
