Storms last night were scattered. I was blessed with 3/4s but west a me in Davis Co, not much. Ottumwa had 13 90 degree days. Eleventh warmest June for Iowa. Problem this June westerlies, the active stormy, widespread energy jumped up into Minn and Wis. These jet streams usually hang around Iowa in June, and go north July and Aug, This June the Heat Dome pushed everything north quickly. Record low severe weather this june in Iowa also because of this. North and NE Iowa have been just close enough to the westerlies to get in on more storms, thus more widespread rain coverage. Another factor in rain during Summer is the very edge of the heat dome, the ring of fire. That also was north and NE to benefit NE and North Iowa. Southern Iowa stuck in the heat. Right now the heat dome has retreated to the SW taking the ring of fire with it. Kansas and MO are in line for soaking 2 inch rains this weekend! BUT too far south for southern Iowa. Unless many in MO go outside and blow to the NORTH! After beneficial rains pass us by to the south this weekend, the heat dome will bulge back to the north in the position it was in June, taking best chances across Northern Iowa once again. Sorry southern Iowa. Pray Sunday some position changes. Overall though,,when the summer is HOT,,best chances of rain will always be better NORTH>
