I still have scars all over my legs from last season. Came home one day with over 50 on me. 2 days later came home with over 50 chiggers. Needless to say, I was one itchy SOB for a month. I would rather have chicken pox than chigger bites.
One method I use to remove ticks is to take my lighter and heat the end of a needle super hot. Then lay it on it's back and he will release his hold on you(normally). It still itches and scars though.
The chiggers I had I could see. They were tiny and red. I thought they were seed ticks, but was told they were adult chiggers. I spent 2 hours with a pair of tweezers and a small mirror picking those little devils off of me. I put about 2 gallons of bug spray on now every time I enter the woods between 3/01 and 11/01
. I wear them from about now until I need insulated in Oct. sometime.
I've had several people comment about my strange fashion sense while standing on the bank of my favorite water hole in July. Wearing knee high camo muck boots and shorts while reeling in them big cats
