More qdm, more does & more good eats!

wow, that makes for a fun 4 days. You know what I think would really make for a great picture, you take all those deer and stack them on top of eachother in a trailer..........................

Loesshillhunter,
The dates should be on your tag. For the special late season you will need to buy a different tag. I still have one I wish I could use! I guess I don't understand why, if you have an unfilled antlerless tag, you can't use it...

That's kind of what I figured but I always have this hope they'll open a season for the unfilled tags out there.

I am with Limb. Lets start a petition to change the regs on the use of unfilled antlerless tags.

First Off,
Congrats Larry Zach, the man on a QDM mission! Very impressive set of skinheads!

Loess,
You may not use a doe tag for the special late season unless your tag has the dates printed for this weekend. I bet if you went out to your sporting goods store, there might be a few more special late tags left.

Any weapon legal to hunt deer with in Iowa is permitted.

I believe I will be carrying Dirty Harry with me this weekend.

Follow Larry's lead and harvest does. Oh yeah, and have a good time as well.

I asked Willie Suchy with the Iowa dnr about using antlerless tags for any season you wished and he told me that the reason that it is not allowed is because the average deer hunter, probably not people on this site, is lazy and will put off harvesting a doe until it is to late and that it has been proven in other states that they actually harvest fewer does because of this. I guess they think if you have all deer season to fill your antlerless tags you will put it off and not get it done.

i think, its more like, they want to sell you as many tags as you will buy, and they don't much care if you fill it or not, as long as you will buy another tag in a different season

Congrats Larry!! Even better than last year? I am just waiting for the day when I can spend more time out hunting, though I doubt I'll ever have that kind of opportunity in a four-day period!

Hunting from a blind IS hunting! As you say, you saw wildlife and all outdoors...soaked it all in and enjoyed it, while taking a number of deer also. I really enjoy filming deer and other wildlife while hunting and a blind makes it easier and enjoyable!
I understand that party hunting is a tradition that many enjoy...but I feel that many are missing out on a whole lot of outdoor "life". You certainly shot down the notion that the only way to take large numbers of deer...is to drive them with large groups.
I hope at least, that everyone is careful this weekend. Thanks for a great post!

Great work Larry! You continue to impress me with your doe harvest expertise. Seems every time I change my target to fill doe tags I am over run with little bucks!!

Once again, great work!!!

Oops! Just noticed that this was last season's post.
