Muddy harness vs. HSS

This is the LAST year I'm screwing around with this nylon rocket science jigsaw puzzle harness I've been using. Trying to get recommendations between the Muddy harness or the Hunter Safety System Pro. Also open to other options I haven't considered. Your thoughts?

I've got an HSS mesh and like it but I've never tried the Muddy one.
My dad has a HSS cloth one for sale I think.
PM me if you're interested

I hunted with the Muddy harness for a week and I like it a lot more than the LW or the Summit harness that I have. It is a lot easier to manage. It is fairly comfortable and I think that the carabiner on that thing makes even me at 275#+ feel pretty darn safe in the tree.

I have not hunted with the HSS system, so I don't know what that one is like. I have heard good things about them as well. I'm sure some folks who have used both will chime in soon and then you can have a true comparison /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I use the HSS and like it alot. The Muddy harness looks nice too. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I haven't used a HSS vest. I own the Muddy harness and couldn't be happier. Less bulk and very easy to get on.

I dont think you could go wrong with either. I have a HSS vest and I use it everytime. I love the pockets in them and it makes me feel pretty good at 20 ft

I think both are quality harnesses. I have the HSS but when you got one, it is hard to shell out the $$ for another one.

A couple final thoughts and questions and then I'll shut up and listen. Only gripe I have about the HSS is the lineman's belt sold separately for $30. Just the principle of that sort of rubs me the wrong way. Pay more money to truly be safe in all applications. By the time you factor that in you're looking at upwards of $200 with tax compared to the $100 for Muddy in which the belt is included so there's a huge plus for Muddy. Then again, I tried on an HSS the other day and man are they freakin handy. Took less than 10 seconds to have it on and secure. To the Muddy users...have you ever felt like you were fumbling to find a strap or figure out where a given strap goes or had any sort of problem getting a strap secure? Any problems with the parachute buckles? This is my main concern having not tried on a Muddy in person. The straps vs. the seatbelt style buckles on the HSS. I want to be able to get it on in the dark, possibly under time constraints and have zero issues whatsoever.

I won't comment on the HSS harness as my mother always said - "If you don't have anything good to say - say nothing at all"...

I've been using the Muddy harness and working with Muddy Outdoors for the past several months. I'm helping them make improvements to the existing harness to take it from sweet - to perfect. Amung some of the changes that are coming is a new chest strap and several other "secrets" that I can't let out yet.

I'm the most anal person on the face of the earth when it comes to products and what I take into the field. If I can make myself happy I know that everyone else will dig it. I can tell you from wearing one over the past several months - the Muddy harness rocks, and it's going to friggen SMOKE when we're done with it.

I like to hunt facing the tree....it would be nice if you could somehow make that work with a harness so you could hunt 360 around a tree with out having to turn half circles to get a shot off. I havent tried Muddy, but I find my HSS-Pro a bit noisey. I would sell it to someone here. If anyone wants to strike a deal PM me.

I've haven't checked out the Muddy harness yet but the HSS is the esiest harness to put on i've ever used. Easy to use is key for a safety harness IMO.

I just got the Muddy this year and LOVE it. It does not tangle up and goes on quick for a buckle style vest. The parachute buckles are quick and easy to use and it is much lighter than a HSS vest. I give it an A+

I have used both and both are very nice however I would say the muddy is more comfortable however it is handy to have pockets for a range finder like the HSS.

I would say yout would be happy either harness but the Muddy would get my vote as it is much lighter and quieter in the tree.

I really like my HSS. Either one will keep you out of the casket though. Go to a store and try 'em on, see what ya think.
