We are in the market for an ATV or UTV. 500cc+ and must have 4WD and a square tube style receiver. Contact me if your selling or know of one for sale in Iowa.
What issues you run into with Polaris Rangers?Might look at UTV & if u can do it… HONDA, IMO. We’ve had a LOT of: Polaris, JD Gators & a couple Can Am’s. I can say for a fact, we are done with those 3. I know some have “good luck” with em but a whole lotta machines now- not done well. It’s almost like they designed to go like 5,000 miles & then throw them away.
Like Honda a lot. Dunno about others like yamaha, Kawasaki, etc???
Sorry if offended any owners of above. I’ve been owner too & I personally just feel like they could be building a far better product for that kinda $.
K- so all of fam combined…. We have probably had 20 of them through out the years. Engines seem to last about 1/4 the amount of time any guys I know with Hondas have. Even buddies with snow mobiles…. Their engines get less than half the miles than I believe the other one they run… I think those are Yamahas? What issues you run into with Polaris Rangers?
Just a FWIW...I have had a regular ATV for years now and often use it to plow snow in the winter around the house. Part of my "justification" in getting an UTV was having the enclosed cab for snow plowing and I am telling you that I LOVED it this winter for that exact reason. If you don't have the need for utv, and a four wheeler meets your needs, you can get one for half the price of a utv.
Don’t get a can am!!!!! We tried that after gators & rangers. Thought - “this is the ticket!” 2 of them- been in for warranty work no less than 5 times each. Likely a bit more. Cabs not sealed. AC went out on both. Both had axles go bad multiple times. Etc etc. NOT the way to go, based on 2 machines at least.Well said above on Rangers. Unfortunately, we have one at each farm. Built extremely cheap. Unlike some, we do not even attempt to pull anything like small food plot equipment, hay bales, etc. Since day one we have had to replace wheel bearings, cv boots, axles and seals, tie rod ends, weld cracked frames, belts and many other parts, some annually. Recently, had to put $5500 in it and should have simply wholesaled it out or junked it. The machine is costing me around a dollar a mile for using it, with the operating cost. My wife laughs at me because I am hesitant to ride it in the mud for fear of something going to h....! Never again will I own one! Thinking Can Am or Honda! Any advice on either?
This is my “UTV”. I’m shed hunting right now & just snapped pic. I’ll put my old gator up soon. That thing is pretty cool.

That's like 125 miles a year. That's a weekend for some folks! HahaI’ve had 3 Yamaha ATV & a Yamaha snowmobile. Never had one issue.
I’m actually suprised to hear an ATV breaking down . You guys must use them 10x more than I .
My 2015 Yamaha Viking has less a 1000 miles on it …reliable rig and it’s bigger than a Ranger & Can Am.View attachment 124881
