Off topic: anyone had a coat made from skin you harvest?

Is anyone aware of any tannery (or person) that will craft a coat from deer hides you privide?

I had one made for my senior pics, but it's been awhile.

USA Foxx and furs in Minnesota tans hides and makes garments. I have had several hides tanned there but never anything made. Sleepy Creek Tannery here in Iowa has a good reputation for tanning, they might have recommendations on who to use to make a coat.

We had jackets made from deer hides we sent to Midwestern Sport Togs of Berlin, Wisconsin back in the late '80's. Also had a couple pairs of gloves made. Pretty sure they have closed their doors. I don't have pics handy, still have the jacket hanging in the closet.

The take home for me was that deer skin is fairly thin and easily damaged, both the gloves and jackets. The cost to have the coats made, even supplying them with the hides, was fairly expensive. We could have bought leather coats off the rack for the same price, but then we couldn't claim that we shot the "leather".

Let us know if you find a company that does this.
