Email me if you want and let me know where and when you'll be out, wouldn't mind lending a hand if you need one.

That is why this site and Iowa are awesome. You just don't get that kind of hospitality too many places any more. Kudos IowaBow.

I and my buddies hunt several of the timbers just outside of Nevada, have been for 10 yrs myself and some of my buddies for over 20 yrs.

Depending on how much time you have the average "big" one in this area is just about 125"+. There are 140's, 150's and a few 160's in the area but not nearly as many as some other parts of the state, we don't have as much timber/winter habitat so we just don't cary the same numbers of deer as the areas with bigger timbers.

Nov 3rd, 7th, and 9th have always been the best days in my timber, no idea why guess that's when my does become interesting. </div></div>

This is just a guess but I'm going to say there is prolly some in the 170's 180's and 200's in that area also...Didn't a guy named BWJ (WHERE ARE YOU BWJ!) shoot a 216 inch deer up north there somewhere last year? Or was that up Northeast? Numbers though are not comparable with Northeast and Southern Iowa you are correct.

I'm sure there are a couple but it's an unrealistic goal around here.

3 yrs of myself and 3 friends running trail cams and i've yet to see one over 170.

Most of this area might as well be public hunting ground as it's all hunted archery season and EVERY gun season.

I live in central Story County and if you have 40-50 acres of timber around here its a great place! We don't have lot's of trees, but you will see good deer! Feel free to contact me anytime with questions about the area.
