I had a neigbor disk up a spot where I planted rye and peas. I broadcast the seed, then raked soil over the seed. Next day a gully-washer hit and alot of the peas were uncovered. I walked around on some,, to press them down into the soil. I see some are sprouting on top of the ground. Will they grow in this manner, uncovered? I know if it gets too warm and dry the little roots could just dry up. My neighbor gave me some soybean seed for another spot. He said just broadcast them on top of the ground. The soil was wet and I also soaked them up a bit. He said they would sprout and grow. If this is true obviously they won't grow much but he said the deer would like them anyway. They were free .
