Pellet Lime vs. Ag lime

If it's more cost effective for me to go with pellet lime over ag lime, are there any other drawbacks? I only have 1.5 acres to lime and 40# bags of pellet lime at $3.50/bag is more cost effective than having ag lime spread. I need just under two tons per acre of ag lime of which 50-60% of it is effective. My ph is 6.3. I was planning on spreading 1000#s of pell lime, hoping it has a better percentage than ag lime of effectiveness, and calling it good. The county extension agent told me for soybeans, he wouldn't even worry about liming it at all, but I want all bases covered.

The pel lime doesn't last as long so you'll need to re-apply it frequently but it is quick acting so pros and cons both ways.

Check the lime thread in dbltree's corner for more details but it should work fine for you....:way:
