Pheasant Numbers

Just to get off the subject of landowners, bowhunting pricks, and NR rights, does anyone know the official pheasant population. I am in the field 15 hours a day this time of year and this year I have not seen hardly any pheasants. Last year it seems like they were everywhere. I know the population is down, but has it taken a hard downward spiral this year. Just wondering what other people have seen as for pheasant numbers.

By the way, I drove up on two little spotted fawns yesterday, that couldn't have been over a few hours old. They couldn't even walk yet and I had to move one of them out of the way for the farmer to get his tractor and planter in the field. Those little buggers are cute as hell, just wanted to take it home with me. A few minutes after I moved them, mama came back and bedded down with them.

I've actually been seeing pretty good numbers. Surprisingly since the dozers have been running rampant around here.

Yea!! Pheasants are everywhere here! I swear i cant go for a drive w/o seein at least 15! Numbers are pretty good around here!!

I have been seeing a lot more this turkey season than I did last year. But I do not know for what reason, I think it may be my perspective because I am hunting an area that used to have zero pheasant cover but know is on it's second year.

Washington county must have had a very good winter survival even with the ice because I am seeing larger numbers than ever.

I have been seeing quite a few in Webster County.

Things are looking good up here.
They are in the fields everyday lately.

DNR conservation officers and wildlife biologists do their annual Roadside Survey (30 mile routes) sometime during the first two weeks of August. That is when we physically count every pheasant, rabbit and other upland game birds. So the "official" season estimate won't be out until late August.

I have yet to see any partridge this spring. But I did see a TON last dec/january, well atleast for around here.
