Pretty Boy...... Jake or Tom???

THA4

A Few Steps Ahead Of You
I got pretty boy/girl for Christmas and was wondering what the general concensus was on what fan to use for the decoy
and why????
Jake
or
Tom

i have both types of fans available

Hook a brotha up!!!!

I had the big tom I shot opening day last year sorta hang up at the pretty boy with the full fan. Then a week or so later I had two jakes just run up and want to be buddies.

I think it all depends on the turkey and his mood at the time, just like decoying deer.

So far I haven't had a tom even look at the PB setup... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Twice I had two toms strut by this setup at 40 yards...didn't run didn't get excited, just gobbled every time I called and just strutted right on by.. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Dang things...lucky for them I had the stick n string cause 40 yards is a piece a cake for the 10 gauge... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

I witnessed the death of 9 toms last year off the pretty boy. I used A tom fan. Faced the decoy at the blind and set up in the wide open. Gobblers literally ran to the pretty boy. Set decs in close to blind all shots were 5 to 30 yards.

3 out of my four toms were shot off the pretty boy. Both birds killed in Iowa and 1 in kansas. the other kansas bird was with the mighty 1187 at 63 yards we doubled actually.

With the experiences that I have had with my B-Mobile decoy I actually feel a little bad about using them. They are unbelievable, period!! I saw 5 Toms die last year over mine and had friends that had great results also. I use real adult gobbler feathers in the B-mobile. Oh I almost forgot the 2 toms at 6 yards that got away, long story!! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

last year i borrowed pretty boy and had several birds killed over it!!
we used a tom fan and a jake fan. both with results....
im a believer, but i was curious if you guys had any theorys or experience as to which is better....
