Thought I would share a few pics of projects I have been working on. Last summer I mowed two areas of existing CRP on my place to prep for Cave In Rock switchgrass.

I then sprayed with Glyphosate and Escort XP in September and it did a nice job of killing everything that came back up. I broadcasted 10# per acre of seed in late February. I got 50% cost share on the seed by calling the DNR and purchased it through Osenbaughs. Great place to work with. I will be spraying it again in a couple of weeks with Atrazine and Glyphosate.
Pics of the CRP this spring
Put in an application for some timber work under the EQIP program back in January and got the approval for cost share last week. Dbltree came out yesterday to walk the farm and went to work on some edge feathering. The field edge of this timber was very open and I wanted it screened so the deer feel more comfortable bedding in the interior of the timber. The differences are night and day as you can see. Dbltree did a nice job of leaving runways through the timber and I will probably go back through with a chainsaw and fine tune the trails to where I want them.
Pictures before cutting
A few pictures after
The last two weekends I have been doing a trash pickup of all the various treasures that have came to live on the farm. Everything from tires, a stop sign and hot water heater, it was amazing the kind of junk I pulled out. I would say I added over an acre of ground the deer can now start using just by cleaning up all the junk piles.
Pics of just the first days haul.
Had a few acres of existing clover on my farm when I bought it but I am going to converting most of it into soybeans and a mix of radishes this spring. I went out and bought some electric fencing and all the supplies I thought I needed the other day. I am not going to take the chance of not having any food come hunting season due to the deer or a rouge cow. I will have to take some more pics as the food plots progress.
I cant tell you how many hours of time Dbltree's information on here has saved me had I tried to take on this kind of stuff alone. Everything I have tried has worked great so far. :way:
