Anyone have any thoughts on when the peak of the rut will be sneaking in this year.. Been seeing a lot of little bucks hearding up does last few days.. All the movement is getting me anxious!

Today was the first day that I saw major movement of older bucks. Had several 3.5 y/o deer in the yard that I havent seen all year.

We were on our way to deep river iowa... and we saw a gigantic buck chasin a doe across the road and into a cornfield... im gettin very excited!

I would be in the timber every chance starting this weekend and hunt as hard as you can in the first two weeks of November.....as usual!
What you are seeing right now is the equivalent to the secondary rut with the younger does in December. Some old does may be giving off some sweet smells a month early. The best bucks are more than likey getting some early samples at night while sleeping all day.
Bet some of you older guys can relate!

Awesome,thanks! That's what I had planned but the cool weather and the activity had me second guessing.. Trying to plan work vaca. for the rut.. It would be a lot more fun to just not work and hunt everyday!

Ill totally agree with ghost.By far my best hunts are from holloween to about the 15 of november.This weekend is the start of prime time.Light rattling and soft grunts should work real good .I dont dont start all out rattling until about the 2 or 3rd.Time it right and its awsome to have have a big one come crashing in.Good huntin everyone.
