Farmers around me are selling everything 19" and above...every kind of tree. They are getting paid by the board foot...after it's taken out.
They acknowledge they are going to get shortchanged...but just figure it's just the way it is. None of my buisness but most have never sold a stick of timber in 30-40 years so they figure anything they get is a plus...and just take what they are offered.
I can't imagine selling timber that way...because they won't get a second chance in thier lifetime
I know one thing....a lot of turkey hunters aren't going to find those turkeys in the same old roost trees...and a lot of deer hunters are going to find a tanglement of tops to walk thru this fall.
