Shop Remodel

I said earlier in the year that I would post a thread on a project this summer.
The shop is closed and I’m glad to get away from that lifestyle after 33 years. This was always my dream for the shop when the business was closed. If I didn’t do something to the shop it would turn into a junk storage room. I’m committed now so the remodel will continue. My plan is to line the walls with some sort of wood and all my 19 Whitetail mounts will be in the room.
I did teach two individuals this winter so the equipment that I no longer need has been sold to them. I’ll keep just enough equipment to continue to do my own deer or a few for friends if I keep my license.
Some pics before I started cleaning up.

The next two days the area should be all cleaned out. I have no timeline on completion and will work on it at my leisure. This will be a running thread with many updates.
Also if there are any suggestions post them up I’d like to hear your thoughts!

Yes that will be done after the walks are lined!

All cleaned up! The toolbox, freezer and table will be worked around.
I’m learning towards pine T&G to line the walls. If I figured right I only need 135 16 footers

For practically, 1/2 cdx plywood and stained would be fine and cheaper then t&g.

I used a pneumatic finish nail gun and these planks on the interior of huge treehouse I built a few years back, and it turned out great. Over the top of existing drywall would work even better. No tongue and groove necessary.

Enjoy retirement Ishi! I retired 4 years ago and don't know how I kept up with the property before, busier now more than ever. The upside is I'm doing things I enjoy. I'm in the middle of re-doing our kitchen, totally gutted and new cabinets, countertop, backsplash and flooring. It's rewarding seeing the outcome but man, it's kicking my 69-year-old ass!!

The wood was delivered yesterday and its in the shop!
I found this at an Amish lumberyard by Drakesville that had a bunch of it plus for a fee they would deliver.
The wood has match ends and is pre finished which is a win win.The cost was much less then the box stores wanted for their unfinished lumber!
I’ve been advised to let it acclimate for a week or two before starting.

End match pine is awesome. Looks great and don't have to worry about but joints landing on studs.

Making good progress! Two walls to go plus rip the top piece and install the corners and add some baseboard. I’m wanting this done before bow season!

What are you putting in the inside corners? If a cove molding, base should go on first.

Running them blind to the corners and later a piece will be ripped and nailed to hide the gaps

The west wall was the project for this past week.

As I got to the windows the casing wasn’t working out with the T&G so casing was removed and 1x4 pine was installed.

With every project one thing always leads to another! My daughter suggested and showed me pics on Pinterest with pine T&G with the windows painted black. It looked good so black it is and have the first coat on.



All the walls are finished except the south wall but still need to do the corners yet.



The hardest wall I left for last and its the one with the garage door.



Next project is to start making a wall and cover the garage on the inside and then I can take the overhead tracks down. Once it’s insulated that will help with energy efficiency plus the tracks won’t be in the view of the mounts plus I’ll have another wall for more mounts if needed

Once the wall is finished I don’t have enough T&G to finish so I’ll have to get a some more. I’ll install what I have and figure out what needed so I won’t have much extra.
