Agreed, it better be huge in brutal temps or it's not worth it..I remember in years past coming out of my heater body suit to climb down and my hands instantly lost feeling and movement..Now it's fiberglass blinds and that makes it WAY easier to sit out in the cold weather. I use my bow to help even it out and give the deer a fighting chance.
I remember those day too. Toes would get so cold they hurt to even walk. No way my fingers would work or have much feeling in them either. I made my own blinds after we lost a couple places we hunted. The first blind was small and was made to tilt into the back of the truck. The blind I have now is air tight, dry and warm. I'll be it this weekend and within 30 minutes it'll be 60 degrees or better.
Should've taken those heated socks for a test run yesterday afternoon.
My thermometer said it was 11 degrees inside my blind when I got in at 3pm. I left at 5:30 and I don't think I could've sat in a tree stand yesterday for that long. I can see pretty good out of mine, it's only 4' square on the inside and with a swivel chair, I can see out the 2' x 2' windows that are in all 4 sides pretty well. Did see a doe being chased by a 8 point that grunting pretty good. I would've much rather been testing them out instead of moving a couple of family members all week. Somehow I ended up being the primary mover of two households when I went into the week thinking I would just be an extra hand if needed for 1 household. Hoping to get out Wed, Thur, and Friday and hoping I can remember to pack those socks because my feet always freeze.Should've taken those heated socks for a test run yesterday afternoon.
Guy in my brother's blind shot a 9 point and saw several more younger deer. Around 5, I have fifteen doe come out to graze in the hay field and could see a few more deer in timber, just couldn't tell what they were. Oh ya, it only took 25 minutes for the temp to reach 60 degrees inside the blind.
